Midland student arrested after Crime Stoppers tip about gun on campus

MIDLAND -- Midland ISD spokesperson Woodrow Bailey confirms a Crime Stoppers tip was received Friday about a student at Lee High School who had a gun on campus.

According to MISD, the tip led to a immediate response from law enforcement to the campus. The initial investigation confirmed to investigators that the gun was not on campus, but that it may have been earlier in the day.

There was no threat to students or staff as the situation was addressed, MISD reports.

The student in question was then arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon.

MISD says that the Midland Police Department will be taking over the investigation.
