Midland Police Department warning of scam calls

MIDLAND -- The Midland Police Department is warning residents of a phone scam involving callers claiming to be with MPD and the Midland County Sheriff's Office.

According to MPD, the caller says that a family member didn't show up for jury duty and they'll have a warrant if you don't pay.

MPD asks you to spread the work of the scam to the elderly and asks you to talk with your parents, grandparents and neighbors.

Anyone who receives a call that they're unsure about can call MPD at 432-685-7108 or MCSO at 432-688-4600 and verify the caller is actually an officer with the agency.
