MIDLAND -- Midland Lee High School staff and students are collecting money, clothing and shoes for those in Houston who have been impacted by historic flooding from Hurricane Harvey.
Principal Stan Vanhooser, who is a big fan of the old Houston Oilers, is calling the it "Luv You Blue" which is the former rally cry for the Oilers.
He's asking people to consider donating 0.50₵ a day to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
“I’ve challenged my students, if they collect $2000, I’m going to donate $100, if they collect $2500, I’ll donate $500. If they collect $5,000, I will donate $1,000,” said Stan VanHooser, Principal of Midland Lee High School.
Also, if you have any gently used and/or new clothes and shoes you would like to donate, the school will collect those as well; they need to be clean, they ask that anyone donating place items in the decorated boxes around campus.
