Man tased and shot multiple times after being “highly aggressive” with Sheriff’s Deputies

A man was tased and shot multiple times in Midland after being “highly aggressive” according to the Midland County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Gary Painter reported that at about 4:50 a.m. Saturday morning officers responded to multiple calls at the Kent Store at FM 1788 and West Highway 158.

The first call was about a man attempting to get Into cars at the store, another call saying he was trying to steal a car, and the third about a naked man in a cowboy hat running into traffic two miles east of the Kent Store.

Painter said when Deputy’s arrived on scene they tried to stop the man but he immediately attacked the Deputy, the man then entered the Deputy’s vehicle and tried to drive away but was unsuccessful.

The Deputy called for help and continued trying to stop the man by tasing him, but it had no effect on him.

Painter said the man then aggressively attacked the second Deputy who arrived on scene, the man was then shot multiple times.

The Man crawled onto a flatbed semi-trailer and was finally knocked to the ground, Midland paramedics treated the man’s wounds, he was then taken to the Midland Memorial Hospital.

The man’s identity is still unknown.

The Texas Rangers are investigating with assistance from Midland County Sheriff’s Department.
