Man extradited from Mexico sentenced to 38 years in prison for sexual abuse of a child

ECTOR COUNTY -- A man who was extradited from Mexico to Ector County has been sentenced to 38 years in prison for continuous sexual abuse of a child.

On Thursday Jose Salais plead guilty to Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child for an incident that happened in 2007.

After pleading guilty Salais received a sentence of 38 years in prison.

In 2012 Salais fled the country to Mexico after posting bond and removing his electronic monitor.

On January 13 an extradition order was granted allowing U.S. Marshals to bring Salais back to the U.S.
