Man arrested in connection to Odessa shooting

ODESSA -- A man has been arrested following a shooting Tuesday night.

Jose Luis Nava, 36, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a 2nd Degree Felony.

According to the Odessa Police Department, their officers responded to a home in the 200 block of West Clements around 9 p.m. for a call of shots fired.

When police arrived on scene they met with a man who said that Nava had shot at his home several times.

An investigation of the shooting revealed that there was a disturbance between the two men before the victim shut the front door of his home.

As he went inside he heard several shots being fired before Nava left the scene in a truck.

No injuries were reported, but a total of fifteen shell casings were discovered. Police also found bullet holes and bullet slugs inside of the home.

An hour later officers found Nava's vehicle near 8th and Dixie and pulled him over. In an interview with detectives Nava admitted to the shooting, according to OPD.

Nava was then charged and arrested accordingly.
