MIDLAND -- A group of moms in Midland joined forces Saturday to hold a Nurse-in at Midland Park Mall.
The rally was put together a few weeks after a post to social media went viral, the post talked about an alleged incident where a woman was shamed inside the mall for breastfeeding in public.
The Nurse-in happened at noon Saturday inside the food court of the mall. The Facebook group called “Let’s Support Public Breastfeeding” invited all nursing moms to come out and breastfeed in public.
Organizers said the goal of the event was to raise more awareness about the topic and to try and eliminate the stigma that’s often associated with the act.
Staff from Midland Memorial Hospital was also on hand, sharing information pamphlets that described the health benefits of breastfeeding for both moms and babies.
