Man charged with Intoxication Manslaughter after 3 are killed in crash

ODESSA -- A man has been charged in connection with a crash that killed three people and sent four others to the hospital Thursday night.

Mark Garrett, 23, has been charged and arrested in connection with the crash.

Mark Garrett, 23, has been charged with three counts of Intoxication Manslaughter, a 2nd Degree Felony, and two counts of Intoxication Assault, a 3rd Degree Felony.

On Thursday night both the Odessa Police Department and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to the area of Yukon and Tobosa for a major crash.

When police arrived on scene they found a crash involving a white 1995 Chevrolet van and a black 2017 Dodge Challenger.

An investigation of the crash revealed that the driver of the Challenger, identified as Garrett, was intoxicated and driving at a high speed when he struck the van from behind.

The two vehicles then separated and caught on fire.

All three of the people in the van were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies have been taken to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office to be identified.

Garrett and the three passengers in his car were taken to Medical Center Hospital with injuries.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
