JEFF DAVIS COUNTY - A Florida couple crashed their motorcycle, killing the husband.

A DPS news release states the crash happened Wednesday afternoon on Hwy 118 12 miles north of Alpine.

Troopers say 66-year-old James Bratton was headed south on Hwy 118 when he crashed his motorcycle. He fell into the roadway and his wife, Patricia Bratton fell into a ditch, the crash report states. A passing motorist saw the crash and stopped. They noticed a second vehicle approaching and tried to stop them.

Troopers say the minivan did not stop and ran over Bratton, who was lying in the roadway. Bratton was pronounced dead on the scene. His wife was taken to Big Bend Regional Medical Center.
