Police: Man crashed into truck, tried to run victim off the road

ODESSA -- A man in Odessa is behind bars after police say he purposefully crashed into a truck full of people.

Hector Garcia, 37, has been charged with five counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a 2nd Degree Felony.

According to the Odessa Police Department, their officers responded to a call of a crash near Eastridge Road and Gillespie Lane on Sunday afternoon.

When police arrived on scene they found that two trucks were involved, with one of the drivers being identified as Garcia.

Police spoke with the driver of the other truck, who said that Garcia had intentionally hit his vehicle and tried to run him and his four passengers off the road.

A witness told police they saw Garcia's truck cut off the victim causing them to crash into each other.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

Further investigation by police found that the two drivers had a history of physical violence between each other, OPD states.

Garcia was then charged and arrested accordingly.
