A cold front will swing through West Texas and southeast New Mexico today bringing a gusty north to northeast wind and slightly milder temperatures to the area. Daytime highs will be about 10 to 20 degrees cooler than the record highs that we saw on Saturday and a little more in line with what we see this time of the year. Areas south of the Pecos river will see temperatures near or a little above triple digits today but most areas will get some heat relief. No showers or thunderstorms are expected with the front but winds could be up to 30 mph and gusty with gusts nearing 50 mph across the upper Trans-Pecos and in the Guadalupe mountains.
The brief spell of milder weather won't last long as daytime high temperatures look to get back into the triple digits by mid week and into the start of the Summer season. The weather looks dry too with no rain expected this week for most areas.
