Downtown Odessa expected to be less congested soon

ODESSA -- Downtown Odessa should see less traffic by the end of the month.

The city says large trucks will no longer be allowed downtown unless they have a stop in the area.

The council voted on the change in July to change the truck routes that prohibit truck traffic on Andrews highway between 2nd street and 42nd.

Trucks will also not be allowed to drive down Kermit Highway between Andrews Highway and County Road West.

Designated routes for trucks carrying hazardous material are Loop 338 and Interstate 20.
