Gianni Windahl joined the CBS 7 news team in March of 2018 as a multimedia journalist.

She was born and raised in the Dallas area, where she fell in love with the arts and developed an appreciation for storytelling. She attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas (Pony Up!), where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Convergence Journalism with a minor in Visual and Performing Arts.

During her collegiate career, she earned the title of Regent Scholar from The Fund for American Studies, and spent a summer attending the Institute on Political Journalism in Washington, D.C. While in our nation's capital, she interned as an associate producer with Radio America, producing the news director's daily political podcast.

She also reported and anchored for her college's news station, SMU-TV, on three shows focusing on daily news, lifestyle, and politics.

When Gianni is not reporting, she loves exploring the Permian Basin area and visiting locations where movies were filmed. Gianni is passionate about sharing your story, so feel free to reach out and say hello, or send story ideas to gwindahl@cbs7.com. You can also keep up with her on Facebook or Twitter.
